A project of the Pigeon Center Multicultural Development Center, Lift Every Voice! African American History in Haywood County – Volume 1, is part of an effort to collect the history of the black community in this county. Along with personal reminiscences of how things were “back then” – childhood friendships, farm life, church activities, favorite teachers, jobs when opportunities were limited, and the harmony within the community. The book contains a wealth of old photographs.
The Pigeon Center Multicultural Development Center is a local non-profit.
