For years, searching the millions of records available on microfilm at the LDS Family History Library required a trip outside Haywood County to Arden or Cherokee. LDS is now digitizing millions of records, many of them available on your computer or through the Family History Centers.
Now, the local LDS church has opened a Family History Center at 68 Foxwood Drive, Waynesville (off Hwy 209 before the fairgrounds). There is instruction on how to use the free FamilySearch.org website for your family research. There are county records and books that, because of use contracts, require a Family History Library computer be used for access.
